Sea star or Star fish (asteroidea), is not actually a fish – but very different and special kind. Their length can be from 5 to 20 inches, weighing 0.1 to 6 pounds. Sea stars are recognizable by their “arms” that extend from the center of their symmetrical bodies. The most popular type is the starfish with 40 to 50 “spokes”. They have no brain, or blood.
We can find more than 2,000 types of sea stars worldwide. Some prefer warmer water, while others are adapted to low temperatures, some of starfishes live in the shallows along the shores, and others live in the deepest parts of the ocean.
