In the world there are more than 258, of which some are so small that you have never even heard of. On the list we will show you 10 small but very beautiful countries that exist.

  • 1. The Republic of Palau declared its independence in 1994. It is one of the smallest island nations in the world. Located in the Pacific Ocean with about 20,000 residents. The country consists about 200 small islands. The islands were first inhabited around 3,000 years ago, and on the old maps they were labeled as “The Black Islands”. The islands over the years have been influenced by many cultures since centuries were often bought and sold by many countries. Before the independence, the were British.


  • 2. Republic of Vanuatu

This tiny island country is located in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean, it has population of about 243,000 people, 90% of them exist from fishing. Only a small part of the population exists from agriculture. The country is underdeveloped because of its vulnerability to tsunamis and floods. Beautiful landscape, beautiful beaches and water, as well as relaxed and peaceful atmosphere that reigns in the country are some of the reasons, why many tourists come here. The country declared its independence from the British in the 80s of last century.


  • 3. Comoros is an African island located at the end of Mozambique Channel. There are about 800,000 people. The island began with its settlement in the 6th century, and since then has been influenced by many cultures such as Persian culture and Swahili culture.


  • Republic of Nauru
    Before the independence in the World War 2, the island was captured by the British, Germans and Japanese. This is one of the smallest countries in the world with a population of only 9,300 residents living on an area of 21 square kilometers. Formerly the main industry of the island was the mining of phosphates, but mines were bombed in the 80s of the last century. 2 years ago they build their first airport and started working with tourism.


  • 5. Pitcairn IslandsThe Pitcairn Islands are a group of four volcanic islands formed in the Pacific Ocean. Only one of these four islands is inhabited, and it is the second largest. In fact it is an island of 5 square kilometers. The total population of these islands is 48 people. All residents of this island come from 4 families, Brown, Young, Christian and Warren. The Pitcairn islands are a sovereign state and under the authority of the United Nations. The islands have a beautiful location and are very peaceful place for relaxation.
